By empowering communities with cleaner and healthier cooking solutions, BURN contribute to environmental conservation and social development in Kenya.
The Dignified Identity solution is aimed at creating digital wallets for refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced people to provide credentials and eligibility for humanitarian aid assistance in Cash and Continuity of Healthcare. The solution was piloted in Uganda with the Uganda Red Cross Society and in Kenya with the Kenya Red Cross Society. Currently, the solution is being implemented in Kenya as a scale-up in the NCD in crises project funded by the Norvo-Disk Foundation through the Danish Red Cross.
The start-up Hiveonline links unbanked and remote communities of African smallholder farmers to financial services and trade opportunities to improve their livelihoods and financial stability. We partner with off-takers and banks to build an economic ecosystem for fair trade and access to formal credit for these communities.
The Community Inclusion Currencies project is a blockchain-based initiative launched by the Kenyan Red Cross in partnership with the Grassroots economic foundation to strengthen the resilience of marginalized communities by reducing liquidity shortages.
I.O.Me Lab is a community based innovation space with an array of Digital Fabrication tools to facilitate prototyping and small scale manufacturing of innovative ideas/products. It is located in Lamu, in the Eastern coast of Kenya, and open to everyone who wants to turn ideas into actual products through shared knowledge and peer learning.
