The Danish Red Cross has around 255 thrift shops run by 10,000 volunteers, generating a substantial economy for its activities. The products range from clothing to furniture, accessories for your interior design, not to mention all the odd donations that make their way through the Danish Red Cross Shop to a customer.
Community participation is targeted by the Iraqi Red Crescent’s (IRC) activities in its annual planning process. With the goal to better understand the needs of the communities, volunteers are involved in the planning process through a digital application. This allows them to have a practical fellowship and collect specific data from their communities where they have carried out IRC’s activities. By collecting and analysing specific data from the targeted communities, the IRC is able to provide annual plans that enhance the effectiveness of the responses in compliance with the IRC’s strategy, and reinforces the acceptance of the IRC within the society.
Bricoboutique is a new concept of solidarity boutique dedicated to DIY products. Open to all, the shop offers second-hand tools and materials, most of them new. This new activity naturally complements the social action offered by the French Red Cross of enabling people to buy products in order to improve their homes. It is thus possible to buy parquet strips, light bulbs or insulating sheets at a reduced rate.
